Meet Raj Debnath, a resilient 6-year-old from Kolkata who found his way to Diya Ghar after his family moved to Bangalore. Life hasn’t been easy for Raj, whose father works as a ragpicker and mother as a homemaker. At first, Raj was often found playing alone at home, which prompted the teachers to suggest that his parents enroll him in school. On March 3, 2022, Raj joined Diya Ghar. Although he attended school regularly, he often kept to himself, preferring to play alone rather than engaging with other children. Despite the teachers introducing him to new activities, Raj showed little interest.
When the family suddenly moved back to their native place, Raj had to leave Diya Ghar. However, on June 6, 2023, he returned with renewed enthusiasm. With the support of our dedicated teachers and a new lesson plan, Raj quickly blossomed into an eager and fast learner. He graduated with the 2024 batch and went on to join Suma Public School, an affordable private school.
Raj now attends school every day and recently scored an impressive 91% in his FA1 exams. His parents and teachers are thrilled with his progress. Raj enjoys going to school and now dreams of becoming a police officer, proving that with the right support, every child can shine.
