Background: Arun’s family migrated from Raichur to Bengaluru for work. With his father employed as a construction labourer and limited family resources, Arun had limited access to quality early childhood education and a stable learning environment.
Challenge: Arun joined Diya Ghar in November 2023. In April 2026, his parents informed the teachers about a health concern, and Arun was diagnosed with ventral chordee, a condition requiring corrective surgery.
Intervention: Diya Ghar supported the family in accessing healthcare services at Baptist Hospital. Arun underwent successful corrective surgery on 29 June and remained in the hospital for two days for post-operative care.
Transformation: Arun has recovered well and now attends school regularly and will be graduating this year. He can form 3 to 4 letter words in English and Kannada using moveable alphabets, he can recognize numbers up to 100 and perform basic operations in Maths. His parents have committed to enrolling him in a government school after graduation.
